Pros: Good Customer Support for PAID Accounts, Works Well for Most Platforms

Cons: Price, Instagram Interface Limited

HootSuite is one of the most well-known social media scheduling software on the market. It’s been around for a while, and we happily used it when we first started our business. While it does a decent job of organizing and scheduling content for all platforms and has plenty of awesome features, we don’t love the user interface. It also has lackluster reporting features, and the user experience can be clunky and overly-complex. Especially for beginners. What we DO love about HootSuite is the bulk schedule feature. You can upload a month of content in a few moments using a .CSV file, including the date and time you’d like it scheduled. We also love it’s built-in content suggestion tool that helps you pick relevant content to share with your audience.

If you do choose HootSuite, we suggest shelling out for the paid plan for improved customer service and scheduling. With the free plan, you only get 30 scheduled posts per month and might wait a bit longer for a response from a customer service representative.

Cons: Can Get Expensive, Doesn’t Have Integration with Niche Platforms

Another OG in the social media scheduling software world, Buffer has a cult following. Having been around for a long time, it’s a mature tool with less of the kinks that come with new kids on the block. They also have very responsive customer service. It’s great for beginners, with a seamless, easy-to-navigate interface. While it doesn’t have some of the bells and whistles HootSuite offers, it has much more dynamic reporting options.

The main drawback of Buffer is also it’s simplicity. It doesn’t allow you to interact with followers from within the tool, and it only allows scheduling on the main platforms. This is a great software for small business owners or social media managers, but might not be the best for agencies or freelancers on a budget.

Cons: Expensive

HubSpot is a great solution for agencies or companies with more than one brand under their business umbrella. While it isn’t the most intuitive social media scheduling software, it’s also not hard to master after watching a few videos. The reporting options are some of the best in the industry. You can pull reports for multiple clients, drill down to one, and even simplify data into bar charts ans line graphs. This is really useful when you’re a social media professional who needs to be able to translate hard data into digestible, useful insights.

The price is definitely not cheap, so this might not be a feasible solution for small business owners on a strict budget.

Pros: Visual Planning, Intuitive Interface, Affordable Pro Features

Cons: Instagram Only

We absolutely LOVE Planoly. If we could social media marry it, we would. It’s stunning, visual interface and easy-to-navigate planning options are a blessing for social media influencers. While it isn’t ideal to use a secondary tool to manage your Instagram, Planoly bridges the gap where other scheduling tools fall short. We suggest this tool for those who want a better solution for Instagram in addition to their main scheduling software.


Pros: Affordable, More Reliable Than Many Software Options We’ve Used

Cons: Not as Visually Pleasing as Some Competitors

EClincher is a lesser-known scheduling software made for agencies and businesses. It’s very much an unappreciated underdog in the industry, but we absolutely love it. They have extremely responsive, attentive customer service, and rarely encounter some of the glitches we experiences with software with a higher subscription fee. As with HootSuite and other popular software, you can schedule, comment and engage with all platforms on EClincher and it doesn’t have as many issues with third party posting to Instagram. The interface isn’t as pretty as many of it’s competitors, but it’s easy to use. In the end, we like brains more than the prettiest face!
